£8.6mHolder Mathias proposed to transform a 9–storey 1790s office block into an attractive residential and retail scheme as part of the planned regeneration of Bletchley town centre. Vacant for several years the once–known ´gateway´ building is set to bring a more sustainable and secure living environment. The building was refurbished to provide 110 one and two bedroomed apartmens and 6,620 sq ft of retail space on the ground floor. A delicate slab of an additional penthouse level was added to increase high quality residential accommodation. In accordance with the planning brief, 30% of the residential units are designated for affordable housing. Cladding panels in three hues of blue are gradually changing upwards from darker to lighter; thus helping to lighten the building visually even further.
