£2.5mThis refurbishment scheme provides 15,000 sq ft of office space occupied by Holder Mathias Architects, in a four storey Grade II Listed Building originally constructed in 1861 for the trustees of the Marquis of Bute. The building is one of the first examples of a cast iron structure within a brick building in the UK. With the exception of the cast iron windows which were beyond repair, all the elements of the building are retained in their original form, including brick vaulted ceilings and cast iron columns. The building was highly praised for its sensitive refurbishment by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales when officially opened by him on November 11th 1987.
