As part of the St David’s 2 retail–led regeneration project, this temporary library replaces the existing one until the new library is ready for occupation. The library itself is a series of prefabricated buildings, but the external appearance belies their off–the-shelf nature.

The book spines have been applied to the fabric hoarding that surrounds the library. They are the covers of the top 50 borrowed books from Cardiff City library, plus the five top Welsh language books. Together they form a striking image that immediately locates the temporary library.
