£5.5mThe development comprised of 60,000 sq ft of retail warehouses with a Public House and car parking for 500 cars.
The design closely follows the design parameters of a masterplan. The shops relate to an existing Sainbury´s store and a series of village squares and spaces. Pedestrian routes were considered to be very important by the planners and these link into established routes which connect nearby housing to the centre. The closeness of the houses and the style established by the existing Sainbury´s store ensured that a modern but vernacular architecture has been achieved. Quality materials of stone, clay bricks and tiles with timber beams create a domestic welcoming appearance in tune with the village centre concept.
