£35mHolder Mathias Architects was commissioned by The Celtic Manor Resort to develop an existing Planning Consent. The previous scheme was a linear, ´serpentine´ form, which comprised an apartment hotel, and self containted studio units.
Holder Mathias´ design was to develop the proposal through the ´breaking–up´ of the form into a series of apartment villas. The Villas were then to be developed into large two and three bed apartments. The brief was to design the apartments with the ´luxury – leisure market´ in mind, whereby the sizes of the units would be ´oversized´ from the usual speculative apartment development, to suit this requirement.
