Good design has people at its heart, which is why we seek to interact with the communities where we work in a positive and mutually beneficial way.

As active members of Business in the Community, we are dedicated to developing a corporate social responsibility programme that addresses issues of social exclusion, community regeneration and equality of opportunity. We work with BITC and they contribute to our strategy and activity programmes.

Each year, we offer work experience placements for 20 secondary school pupils at our London and Cardiff studios, giving those young people a real taste of life in a business architectural practice. This is not about young people making tea or photocopying during a week off school. During their time with us, our work experience students have an opportunity to learn about CAD design, architectural modelling and project management, and they leave with a portfolio of CAD design and modelling work to present at school or for GCSE/A Level course work.

The practice is committed to supporting the arts. We are Guild members and sponsors of the Wales Millennium Centre and continue to support the community and inclusivity work of the WMC through annual membership.

Colleagues at every level are encouraged in their support of local organisations and schools, with many of us sitting on various boards and governing bodies. We provide support for the Royal Society of Architects in Wales. Holder Mathias also gives pro bono professional support to selected charities.
