Holder Mathias was appointed following a design competition as architect for the new Learning Centre. The new building provides a new main entrance to the college and is seen as an important catalyst in the regeneration of the campus.

The Learning Centre occupies the whole of the firest floor and provides a light and airy learning environment within an exposed barrel vaulted roof comprising circular steel colums and laminated timber curved beams. The classrooms and exam hall are on the ground floor.

The new accommodation was officially opened by Rhodri Morgan, First Minister, Welsh Assembly Government.
