As part of a P.F.I., the Grade II listed ward block has been completely refurbished from basement to second floor to house modern outpatient treatment centres and clinics.  The construction works were phased to minimise distrubance to the Therapy Department who partly occupied the building.

The Kenton and Lucas Block was built in 1842 (Philip Hardwick) with distinctive additions made in the 1980´s. The building is within the Smithfield conservation area and is Grade II listed.
