£2.5mHolder Mathias Architects has designed a spectacular new main entrance and concourse at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. The new building has a dramatic standing–seam roof which, with its supporting cables, gives the impression of a ´big top´. It now serves all outpatients and visitors while also housing a comprehensive range of new administrative, restaurant and retail facilities. The project is one of the first major NHS developments to be completed in Wales under the Public Finance Initiative.
