A 90 acre redevelopment of the former Bute East Dock in Cardiff created a tremendous challenge to Holder Mathias Architects and engineers, Halcrow. All the efforts put into the scheme, which began in 1984, have now been realised with the infrastructure complete and the work completed on the three existing buildings, 20 acres of housing, the dockside retail and residential blocks, a business campus of 120,000 sqft and South Glamorgan County Council´s new County Hall. One of the existing buildings, a Grade II Listed Building, was refurbished to provide Holder Mathias Architects’ new headquarters, the first tenant to move into the development.
