This mixed use town centre scheme has been designed to improve the retail experience of the whole town. By extending the existing retail circuit, creating two new squares and providing a new park will improve the public realm. The brief called for new buildings respectful of the new vernacular of Neath. The new iconic library ’egg’ was loved by the client who is keen to see this sustainable feature put Neath on the map.
Sustainability has been considered, in excess of the client briefing requirements, with the use of CHP, biomass and district heating. Holder Mathias will also be reducing the whole life carbon footprint of the development to produce as near to ‘net zero carbon’ as possible.
