A residential development of 69 apartments known as Harbour Quays has been developed by Coastal Housing Group in conjunction with the Welsh Assembly Government on a plot of land overlooking the Prince of Wales Dock within the Swansea SA1 masterplan.

 

The apartments are arranged on plan in a T–shape form comprising of 4 and 5 storey blocks set around a large, communal landscaped garden and topped off with an ecological bio–diverse ‘brown’ roof. There is a secure undercroft car park directly under the building footprint.

A structural timber framed building, the elevational treatment is a combination of traditional facing brickwork ordered by horizontal stone bands at each floor level to the front and rear masonry blocks connected by a central, less formal link clad in timber veneer panels oriented  in a random arrangement to the east and west elevations.  Each apartment has a fully accessible and generous external balcony space.

The development has been designed to Lifetime Homes and WAG Design Quality Requirement (DQR) standards and has achieved code level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
