Second phase to start at Swansea’s Urban Village
The green light has been given £25 million Urban Village Development.
Builders can now work on completing the courtyard, with plans to transform the Kings Lane warehouse off Swansea's High Street as part of the construction of 30,000 sq ft of space.
This area is being named the creative cluster and it will provide an affordable hub for small, independent creative businesses as well as the performing arts, with the opportunity for a restaurant or coffee shop on the ground floor.
Steve Griffiths, Coastal Housing Group's head of development said: "It is an exciting time as we enter the next phase of the Urban Village development.
"The creative cluster will be the centrepiece of the scheme, providing a community-centred work environment which will allow like-minded creative individuals to engage with each other and, in time, foster a thriving creative quarter in Swansea.
"The establishment of more modern and affordable office and creative space in the city centre will prove useful for business growth while the construction of a dedicated workspace for the creative industry is set to only add to Swansea's already vast creative and cultural landscape."
Award winning architects, Holder Mathias, designed the project on behalf of Coastal Housing Group and guided the scheme through the planning process.

"The Urban Village has already had a significant impact in transforming the High Street."
The second phase is due to be complete by summer 2015.
