WISP Nantgarw

Location

Nantgarw

Value

As lead architect to the Welsh Investment Strategic Partnership, a consortium led by global investor Babcock & Brown and backed by the Welsh Assembly Government, Holder Mathias was selected for WISP projects in Nantgarw and others in South Wales.

The WISP Nantgarw project is the first site for development within the central phase of Parc Nantgarw, which has been created on the site of a former colliery. It provides a new visual landmark although materials have been selected to help the building blend into the surrounding landscape.

The central part of the scheme is in the shape of a teardrop which features a four–storey atrium with a fully glazed top light, allowing natural daylight and sunlight to penetrate into the heart of the space at ground floor level.

The office areas have been designed to be totally flexible in use. The building could be occupied by a single user or each floor could be subdivided to provide accommodation from a single user to multi–occupancy, in a variety of sizes and arrangements.

Holder Mathias is also engaged on WISP projects in Swansea and together with TACP on a scheme in Newport.
